Welcome to Afsalka's Kach and Pickle, a charming cafe nestled on Kuruva Road in picturesque Kannur, Kerala. This delightful spot serves up not just food, but an experience that plays to the heart of Kannur’s local flavors and culture. Afsalka’s is popularly recognized among the youth of Kannur as a vibrant hub for snacks and innovative beverages, making it a must-visit while you’re in the area.

Stepping into Afsalka's, you are greeted by an inviting atmosphere that buzzes with the energy of young locals. The vibrant decor sets the perfect backdrop for indulging in a plethora of unique culinary offerings inspired by traditional recipes. This is especially true for their wide range of kach, or pickles, which come from a variety of ingredients, each brimming with spices and flavors that represent the rich culinary heritage of the region.

One of the standout features of this cafe is its impressive collection of pickles, with flavors ranging from tangy mango to sweet pineapple and even the adventurous gooseberry. Customers rave about the Mango Mulakittath, which garners high praise for its spicy zest, and the equally delightful Pineapple Mulakittath. The freshness and quality of these offerings truly shine, providing a gastronomic adventure that is both comforting and exhilarating.

But Afsalka’s is not just about pickles; their creative beverage selection is a highlight as well. The Honey Kach and Gilgil Soda are particularly popular, showcasing an intriguing blend of sweet and spicy that dances on your taste buds. The fresh lime, orange, and grape sodas are especially refreshing, perfect for cooling down after a day of exploring the vibrant streets of Kannur. One customer notes that asking for a ‘sample vedikkettu’ for a sip of syrup is a charming way to dip your toes into the unique flavor combinations available.

While most dishes are met with enthusiasm, it’s essential to note that experiences can vary, as highlighted by RMZE’s advice on the Cheth Ice, which didn’t quite hit the mark during their visit. These insights contribute to the authentic community feel of Afsalka's, where every customer’s voice adds depth to the overall experience.

If you find yourself in Kannur, Afsalka's Kach and Pickle should be on your list for a casual yet flavorful dining experience. With its eclectic menu and lively atmosphere, it promises not just a meal, but a slice of local life, infused with love and tradition. Don’t forget to indulge in the wide range of unique flavors and textures that await your palate!

Best place to try pickles in kannur. Also known as kannur kach, this place has a huge collection of pickles from mangoes to corn, papaya, pineapple, gooseberry, carrot, chow chow and many more. Things i tried: Mango mulakittath: 9/10 Pineapple mulakittath: 7/10 Cheth ice; 3/10 i don’t recommend to try cheth ice from here. we only got half cup it didn’t taste good at all. Chicken pollichath: 8/10 Priced around 150 this was good with a taste of roasted coconut. Good parking space is also available. This is a must visit in kannur

They have got good varieties of Kach(Pickle). pickles available here are usually good. They are serving muglai chicken only during the month of ramzan, they are also good. We had ice chirandy(kerala falooda) but it wasnot that great when i had it last time and even the quantity was less.
